SOMATIC MOVEMENT EDUCATOR

• Florence's mission is to support whole-body movement inquiries, engaging the whole person in self-expression and self-care, with curiosity and creative play and investigating relationships in time, space, with self, others and in community.  Striving for Ease.  

• With the BMC® Somatic Movement approach, Florence leads whole Body-Mind explorations inviting moving, sound, touch, visualizations, writing, art making and imagination.  The approach through the lens of movement is informed with anatomy, physiology, developmental principles, the sensory body and one's experience.

• Florence Poulain is a Registered Somatic Movement Educator & a Registered Infant Development Movement Educator of the School for Body-Mind Centering®. 

• Florence is a Registered Educator of the Infant Development Movement Program, an approach developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and the School for Body-Mind Centering® to facilitate healthy perceptual and movement developments.  Florence offers Being with the infant and their caregiver to support holistic relationships.

• Those are the four pillars of child development and growth.  Caregivers offer an environment and opportunities for the young child to experience themself, in relationship with others and in space.  

• The infant relies on a caregiver initially, so child holding, picking up, laying down, and positioning the infant on this earth are the first contacts and relationships the child experiences. Self-initiated movement inquiry and play may shape the child's learning process, integrating sensory experiences and perceptions while building resilience and independence. 

 Florence offers Somatic Movement Education group classes and private sessions in and around the Mid-Hudson Valley Upstate NY.
